What is PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) Therapy?
Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy (PRP) has proven to be a solution to speed healing of tendon injuries without subjecting patients to significant risk.
PRP technology was developed years ago to aid with wound healing as well as blood loss. It is now applied to facilitate the healing of tendons and cartilage.

How does a PRP procedure work?
The patient’s blood is drawn in a pre-procedure. Platelet Rich Plasma is produced by separating the platelets in the blood by using a centrifuge. The harvested platelets are activated and delivered into the painful tissue. Proteins found within the platelets are released into the damaged tissue signaling tissue growth.
PRP VERSUS SURGERY
- Totally a non-invasive procedure
- No incisions, no stitches
- Promotes the body’s natural healing process
- Stimulates new blood vessels
- Stimulates new growth of soft tissue (cartilage, tendon)
- Reduces pain and bruising
- Reduced scar tissue
PRP IS USED FOR:
- Orthopedic/Sports Medicine
- Podiatry
- Wound Care
- Plastic/Reconstructive Surgery
- OB/GYN
- General Surgery
- Ears/Nose/Throat
How many treatments are needed?
The average number of treatments vary from 2-4, depending upon the injury and degeneration of the tissue. The results may vary on the patient’s health and concentration of platelets in the patient's blood. Therefore, nutritional care is highly recommended to support healing.
